Campus Athletic Media Policy

Members of the media are welcome on the Academy of Art University Campus for sports- related content. We ask that you please contact Sports Information in advance of your visit so that you will have access to the areas, buildings and people necessary to complete your story.  You will need a media pass to conduct interviews and stories about or at the Academy.

The athletic staff at Academy of Art University is open to talking with reporters, but generally will refer questions to the Sports Information Director, unless arranged in advance. Employees of the University will also notify Sports Information when media crews or reporters are on the campus. Advance notice to Sports Information of a campus visit will assure that you will have little trouble obtaining interviews and access.

When interviewing staff, coaches and players please be aware that the opinions and views expressed do not necessarily reflect the official stance of Academy of Art University and its Athletic Department. For an official statement regarding the University’s position on a certain topic or issue, please contact Media Relations.

For the safety and privacy of student-athletes, photography or videography is expressly prohibited in Academy buildings, residence halls and classrooms without the prior approval of Sports Information. We are willing to assist reporters, photographers, and videographers in accessing these areas for story footage, file photos, and interviews but need to make arrangements in advance with the faculty or staff members in charge of the area during a media visit.

The President of Academy of Art University, the Athletic Director, a designated representative of the President of Academy of Art University, or ANY law enforcement or fire personnel can prohibit public (thus media) access to the Academy of Art University campus or sites. In the event of evacuations or emergency, the Sports Information Director will establish a secondary location for the dissemination of information. Every attempt will be made to provide safe, legal, accurate and quick access to information and photo/video locations.
